the moose
when i was in jackson wy i did a lot of hiking. i wanted to do the same here in flagstaff but it isn’t working out as well. first of all my days are long. the drive to and from work is exhausting even though i rest or try to sleep most of the drive. so on the weekends i try to get out and about. unfortunately the paths in the grand canyon were snow and ice covered. i enjoyed the day but got...

paintings
if it wern’t for the paintings on the walls i would get lost in the hospital. if they move the paintings i would get lost. i am a visual person. i am glad for the paintings.
more of the grand canyon
the colors are slightly enhanced but they are there in the rock formation. the next time i go i would like to be there for sunrise. that may be a bit tough since the drive is rather long but i know i could do it. just dress warmer and bring coffee along with me. a lot of coffee.
the grand canyon
i didn’t make the grand canyon on christmas day but i did go today. i wanted to do some hiking but the paths were snow and ice covered. i’m surprised i didn’t fall getting out of the car. i went to the south rim and enjoyed the sights. the canyon is beautiful in winter. cold but beautiful. i’d like to go back again before i leave.
merry christmas eve
this is kind of how i am feeling tonight. i just talked to my family in ohio and they were in the process of opening up the gifts that santa and mrs. clause left for them. i miss them and love them very much. i can’t wait to talk to my dad tomorrow. since i can’t be where i want to be i am going to make the best of christmas. i am planning on going to the grand canyon for a hike....
what i felt like
this is kind of how i felt this morning waiting for the shuttle for work. cold and barely awake. the rest of the day was a bit better. someone just forgot to tell everyone that this was not a full moon night.
sedona, az
yesterday i went to sedona. what an amazing place. It was hard to pick which trail i wanted to hike. made my decision by the description of the trail. a moderate 3.9 mile hike around courthouse butte loop. what a loop it was. i’m still feeling it today. it hurts so good.
kachinas
i went sight seeing in historic downtown flagstaff today. I especially enjoyed looking at the kachinas. the hopi indians carve the kachinas out of cottonwood. each doll tells a story and represents something different. the kachinas i gravitated to were the ones done in the old traditional style. arms tucked into the body and painted in natural paints. of course the antique doll i liked the most...

not india
this was not taken in india but in texas. it took me awhile to find the temple but it was well worth the search. that was also the day i met rev. hung at a buddhist temple. we had a great chat over tea and i learned a lot about meditation.
happy birthday
today is angies birthday. i hope she has a fabulous day. she deserves it. what a friend she has been. and quite the sport about things. i wish her a wonderful fun filled year.
heading out west
i will be heading out west soon and naturally at least 20 inches of snow dropped recently. wonder if they do snowmobiling there?
still in iceland
i have been under the weather for a few days but i am now on the mend. the weather here does not help either. for the past several days the winds have been in the 40 to 50 mph range. the wind comes from the west and naturally all of my windows face the west. sleeping was extremely hard. actually impossible one night. i’d just about fall asleep when another gust would shake the windows...
iceland
all of yesterdays photos were taken in iceland so i decided to stay there a few days longer. a lot of iceland, at least for us, was seen on horseback. a great way to experience the country and the people. the horses are a bit smaller. some call them ponies but since i still needed to climb a rock to mount the horse it’s a horse to me. the icelandic horse has a fifth gait called the tolt. it...
